Harford Logan - The Legacy

Harford Logan was from Co.Down, Northern Ireland. He was a renowned International Sheepdog Trial Champion and judged sheepdog trials for over fifty years. He was an Irish National Champion on six occasions, Scottish champion once – then went on to represent Ireland more than twenty times at International level. He also represented Scotland on three occasions.  Harford also helped many North American handlers source champion Border Collies over the years and took dog training clinics and judged sheepdog trials from Texas, USA to Saskatoon, Canada. 

The connection to Crannog WK9 is that Alison's father and Harford were lifelong friends from their youth. in fact Harford was Best Man at his wedding! In addition, Alison's first ever dog, Lassie, was in fact one of Harford's puppies! Sadly, Harford passed away in the Fall of 2023, and he will be sadly missed.  However, he has left an incredible legacy behind that is now being shared by his daughter Joanne McHardy on their Official Website.

Harford Logan designed the famous LOGAN WHISTLE. Originally designed as a working sheepdog device, these whistles are now relied on for training and communicating with other dog breeds as well. 

These high performance dog whistles are used by top handlers worldwide but, being 'the easy to use shepherds whistle' they are equally suitable for the beginner. Each whistle is capable of a range of soft and clear sharp tones which can be heard over extreme distance. The unique ‘voice’ is designed to catch the dog’s attention immediately and so also acts as an effective recall whistle for many dog breeds.
